Artistic Movements: Impressionism

The term Impressionism came from a negative review on a painting by Claude Monet called Impression, Sunrise from 1872 (seen centre). Impressionist paintings themselves focus on less grand subjects than movements past, and have visible brushstrokes, used to capture light, reflection, and the passage of time.
